The Full Story
About
I am a North Yorkshire sculptor who lives in a little village called Gristhorpe, near Filey. I have always enjoyed art and about 5 years ago took up sculpting. I specialise in hares, foxes and sheep.

I take inspiration from the surrounding countryside, often taking long walks with my younger dog Flo. I research and observe hares, foxes, and sheep to try and capture their rich characteristics and quirky features. Most of my sculptures have names which I feel give them even more personality. I have to make the sculpture first and then decide what their name will be.
I enjoy experimenting with different clays, textures, animals, poses and finishes.
I work with different clays - stoneware, earthenware and terracotta using oxides, underglazes and glazes. Every sculpture that I make is unique and individually handbuilt.
I do take on commissions but they can take at least 2 months as it is a long process of sculpting the piece, allowing time to dry (up to 4 weeks depending on size), bisque firing, glazing and then a final firing.
